Washington, D.C. – February 28, 2014 – In response to President Obama’s National Insider Threat Policy and Minimum Standards memorandum, a defense agency selected Big Sky Associates as a partner to help establish an insider threat detection program and bring the agency into compliance with the new policy.
“We plan to help the defense agency mitigate insider threats in their ever-evolving threat environment,” said Big Sky founder and President, John Dillard. “This awarded contract reinforces the defense agency’s confidence in our capabilities to comb through large volumes of data, diagram where the largest gaps exist, and prioritize tasks based on risk and available resources.”
The defense agency selected Big Sky to support their insider threat program with the following initiatives: 1) develop current state and risk analysis methods needed to formulate planning priorities, 2) develop and refine tools for program assessment and 3) enhance strategic planning and performance management processes.
“Using Big Sky’s SkyMap Prioritization tools, we will work with the defense agency to determine where their biggest gaps in insider threat security exist and which require attention first,” said Dillard. “Then, we’ll develop a Runway Realization implementation plan to see the execution through.”
This awarded contract expands Big Sky’s established partnership with the Department of Defense (DOD). Big Sky has served as a trusted advisor to other DOD organizations in initiatives addressing organizational security and insider threat, including those organizations looking to comply with the National Insider Threat Policy.
